Responding to the concerns expressed by North Ayrshire Councillor Joe Cullinane about the protection offered to housing association tenants in the area, ANCHO Director, Elaine Gibson, said, For ANCHO, eviction has always been a last resort. We work hard with any tenant who struggles to pay their rent, for whatever reason, and we will continue to do so. Where I am satisfied that ANCHO tenants who are subject to the under occupancy charge are doing all they can to avoid falling into arrears, I will ensure that we use all legitimate means, except eviction, to collect rent due. We will work with each tenant in difficulty individually and ensure that every avenue to assist struggling tenants is explored, including rehousing to a smaller property (where available), income maximisation assistance and employability advice.
