A helping hand

Forms, letters, computers, the internet, welfare rights, benefits and debts issues can be quite overwhelming at times so if you want assistance in any of these areas we have someone who can help you.

At the CLP we offer youth provision each afternoon and evening for different age groups and also provision during the school holidays.

If you need assistance on how to get in touch with the right person for whatever your issue we can help. We have contacts to many local organisations and agencies and if you are an ANCHO tenant you can also have use of the phone to call in a repair or general enquiry.

Job Search Support Service

We have a dedicated Job Search Support Services worker who will help and assist you in your search. We have open access to the internet where you can scan the Jobcentre and other job websites in a relaxed friendly environment. Just drop in or make an appointment.

Volunteering Opportunities

At the CLP, there are many opportunities to use your skills and volunteer with the project. Whether it is with the youth work team or with the new community garden there are many options where volunteering can benefit both you and the project.

Internet Access

If you need access to free internet facilities, the CLP is the place to go. Whether you just want to surf the web or learn a bit more about the internet staff can help.

Literacy Support

If your reading and writing skills are holding you back from getting that new job or re-entering the jobs market we can help by providing one to one support. Our aim is to give you the confidence to apply for a new job or take that first step back into the learning environment.

Young people’s Careers Service

We have recently started a careers drop in for the 16-18 age group each Wednesday afternoon. This is a service requested by the young people to help ease then through the process of leaving school and into employment or further education.

Computers/Training

Expert or complete beginner? – We have a computer suite and people who can help. You are welcome to go it alone or receive beginner tuition. We have seven modern workstations for you to use. Set up an e-mail address, surf the net or enter the world of e-bay!

Substance/Alcohol Abuse

If you or any family member need advice or support in this area just call us and we will refer you to the appropriate organisation. We are planning to re-establish on-going support soon.

Credit Union - 1st Alliance

We will soon have a representative from 1st Alliance Credit Union in our base. 1st Alliance gives impartial advice on financial issues including savings accounts, low interest loans, budgeting and debt advice.

Admin Services

We can offer a wide rage of admin services including:

  • E-mail
  • Community Noticeboard
  • Sign posting information on other organisations
  • Use if phone (Only for calling benefits/utilities)

Youth Services

The CLP pride itself on the unique youth service that it offers to the young people of the area. Having started with 2 small groups for the 8-11 yr old age group in 2007 we now facilitate groups every weeknight:

Monday – Kidz Klub 6-8pm
Tuesday – P7-S1 Drop-In 6.30-8.30pm
Wednesday – Teen Drop-In 6.30-9pm
Thursday – Girls Allowed 6.30-9pm
Friday – Senior Drop-In 6-9pm
Weekday lunchtime – Senior Computer Access
After School Club – P4-P7

Welfare Rights

Most people at some point need advice on welfare rights. It can be a daunting task trying to complete forms including

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Crisis Loan

We can help you or make an appointment with an experienced member of the North Ayrshire Council's Financial Inclusion Team. The worker is trained in welfare rights and will give you advice and assistance on the completion of all official forms.

This service is available on a Thursday afternoon and evening at the Hub in Hunter Drive and also at the Woodwynd Hall in Kilwinning on a Tuesday night.

Health Partnership

Over the years the CLP and local Health Partnership, Health North Ayrshire, have worked together in the local community to improve the health of local young people and families. At present we use the Hub once a week to facilitate a 14+ sexual health drop in for young people needing access to information on this subject.
